About The Position

Bruyère Health Saint-Louis Long-Term Care is a 198 bed Long-Term Care (LTC) home with convalescent care, peritoneal dialysis and respite programs situated in a quiet residential neighborhood on a picturesque setting on the edge of the Ottawa river. Requirements

  • Minimum of Two (2) year Community college diploma in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or a related field; or a combination of the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience working in a long-term care environment, including those living with dementia.
  • Experience with group animation.
  • Smart Serve certified.
  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement).

Nice To Haves

  • Registered member of Therapeutic Recreation Ontario.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate therapeutic and social activities to meet the recreation-related needs of the residents and plans and accompanies residents on group outings.
  • Develop activity outlines for the Therapeutic Recreation Services Activities Manual when a new activity has been created and implemented.
