About The Position

Our Village at University Gates, located in Waterloo, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for an Unscheduled Part Time RECREATION TEAM MEMBER to join their team. At Schlegel Villages, we are redefining elder care through innovation, Village design, and culture change. Requirements

• Experience working with the geriatric population
• Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
• Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual’s health

Nice To Haves

• Enrolled in or completed a diploma or degree recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university is an asset
• Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation and regulations applicable to the long-term care sector, including the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 and Health & Safety
• Experience working with people living with dementia

Responsibilities

• Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture.
• Work as key member of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs.
• Foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families and the Village team to deliver holistic services.
