The Recreation Specialist is responsible for conducting assessments with residents to identify their needs, interests, and skills, and then developing and implementing individualized and group recreation programs. This role involves maintaining comprehensive documentation, assisting the Director in evaluating program effectiveness, and participating in interdisciplinary care team meetings to ensure recreation plans align with overall care plans. The specialist also provides guidance to nursing staff on various interventions, contributes to the department's quality assurance program, assists in the education and direction of Recreation Leaders, and supervises assigned volunteers. Additionally, the position requires maintaining supplies and equipment, and in the Director's absence, being responsible for daily department operations to the Senior Recreation Specialist. Participation in staff development, mandatory education, HAZCOM compliance, and Nursing Home Committees is also expected, along with performing other related duties as requested, including unrelated duties in emergencies.
