About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to supervise facility use and activities at a County recreational facility. The incumbent will also assist with landscaping (as needed) and upkeep for designated recreational parks and/or facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Ability to calculate and/or tabulate data.
  • Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations.
  • Ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
  • Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information.
  • Ability to perform addition and subtraction. May include counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises facility use during and/or after normal working hours; ensures participants use facility in a safe manner.
  • Maintains control of equipment and facility usage; including picnic shelter, volleyball courts, tennis courts; horseshoe pits, walking track, etc.
  • Secure recreation equipment on its proper location.
  • Maintains cleanliness of facility; pick up trash, empties trash receptacles, cleans and maintains supplies in public restrooms; replace garbage liners, etc.
  • Communicates with the public in person to answer questions related to programs and facilities; responds to questions about game schedules.
  • Close Park at night to insure facility is secure.
  • Communicates with other County personnel and the general public when working at tournaments and special events; directs traffic at special events; works the gate at tournaments; assists in distributing trophies; assists with cheerleading and other camps.
  • Monitors the premises to ensure a safe environment for all park users.
  • Alert law enforcement if witness questionable activities.
  • Call 911 if needed.
  • Operates cleaning material and utensils, weed trimmer, operates/push mower or other maintenance equipment to complete essential functions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
