About The Position

Assists in developing and implementing diverse programs and daily activities (recreation; senior programs/therapeutic recreation; and/or wellness, fitness & athletics) for all ages. This role involves welcoming visitors, answering inquiries, facilitating programs, monitoring participants, maintaining records, and managing recreational supplies. The position also includes basic maintenance tasks, arranging facilities for events, marketing programs, networking with external organizations, and providing support for special events. The job requires a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of related experience, and specific certifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years related experience and/or training.
  • Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines.
  • Florida Operators Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must obtain a learning permit for a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) before the first day of work.
  • Must obtain a valid Florida CDL Class C within six (6) months of employment.
  • First Aid & CPR certification, or the ability to obtain certification within six-months of start date.
  • Basic software skills: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Payroll Systems, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing.
  • Ability to read and understand policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to utilize common sense understanding to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
  • Regular use of non-complex machines and equipment (adding machines, calculators, copy/fax machines, etc.).
  • MS Word or equivalent word processing software; MS Excel or equivalent spreadsheet software and Internet software.
  • ActiveNet recreation management and registration software, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements diverse programs and daily activities for all ages.
  • Welcomes visitors and answers their questions and inquiries.
  • Notifies visitors of activity schedules and registration requirements.
  • Facilitates and leads programs and daily activities.
  • Monitors spectators and participants to ensure orderly conduct.
  • Keeps attendance, inventory, and expenditure records for programs and activities.
  • Receives, stores, and maintains equipment, gear, and recreational supplies.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, gear, and recreational supplies.
  • Assists in evaluating programs and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Conducts basic maintenance tasks at recreation facilities.
  • Arranges chairs, tables, and equipment for scheduled group activities.
  • Markets programs, events, and activities to obtain sponsors and funding.
  • Networks with outside agencies, committees, boards, and related organizations.
  • Provides support for department special events.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
