About The Position

The City of Escondido is seeking a dynamic individual to join their dedicated team, delivering exceptional services and support to their senior community. This position is for the Recreation Leader II role at the Park Avenue Community Center (PACC), which serves as the hub for Escondido Senior Services and also offers community-based programs for all ages after 3:00 p.m. As the front counter staff, the role involves engaging with the public, providing outstanding customer service, and assisting with the daily operations of the PACC. The position requires availability on weekdays from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and weekends as needed from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This position is budgeted for $17.34/hour and is limited to 999 hours per fiscal year. It is a PARS (Public Agency Retirement System) budgeted position and not eligible for PERS.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age at the time of employment
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Professional Suite
  • Ability to read, write and speak English

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in front counter operations including but not limited to activity registration, answering phones/emails, handling payments, preparing room/auditorium set-ups, and general office duties.
  • Assist City staff, outside agencies, and the general public regarding all community programs offered by the City of Escondido.
  • Monitor all activities occurring in the facility to assure the safety and security of the public and staff.
  • Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and in person.
  • Handle all emergencies, incidents, and/or injuries.
  • Promote programs and events to customers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
