About The Position

The Recreation Director is responsible for creating, coordinating, and leading engaging recreational, social, and wellness programs that inspire residents to live their best lives. This role plays a key part in building community, fostering meaningful connections, and enhancing overall quality of life for residents through thoughtfully planned activities and events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in recreation, gerontology, therapeutic recreation, or related field preferred
• Previous experience in senior living, recreation, activities, or life enrichment strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Creative, energetic, and compassionate approach to resident engagement
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead a comprehensive recreation and life-enrichment program that meets the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of residents
• Develop a monthly activity calendar that reflects resident interests, abilities, and wellness goals
• Coordinate group and individual activities including games, crafts, fitness, outings, social events, and special celebrations
• Encourage resident participation and promote inclusivity and engagement
• Collaborate with nursing, dining, therapy, and leadership teams to support holistic resident care
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and community partners
• Manage activity supplies, budgets, and equipment
• Ensure compliance with state regulations, safety guidelines, and Hillcrest policies
• Supervise and support recreation staff and volunteers as applicable
• Document participation and outcomes as required
