About The Position

Manitoba Possible is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to assist the Recreation, Leisure, and Accessible Sport program in developing and implementing summer activities. The role focuses on ensuring summer programs are accessible and inclusive, enhancing independence for children and youth with disabilities. This is a full-time summer position from June 15 to August 15, 2026.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program.
  • High School diploma or an equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of program planning in recreation and leisure with an emphasis on programming for children and youth with disabilities.
  • Experience providing Activities of Daily Living.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and disability topics and issues.
  • Knowledge of adapted recreation and accessible sport.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt to changes quickly.
  • Basic computer skills, including using Microsoft Office programs.
  • A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check are required as conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Post‑secondary education is an asset but not required.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture an asset.
  • Driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work is an asset, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate summer recreation, leisure, and accessible sport programming for children and youth with disabilities.
  • Provide direction and support to Summer Access Workers in collaboration with the Recreation Facilitator.
  • Assist the Program Manager and Recreation Facilitator in recruiting and training summer staff.
  • Evaluate program eligibility and understand client needs to ensure programming is accessible, inclusive, and suitable.
  • Support the community by sharing information about inclusive recreation and sport opportunities to organizations and families.
  • Obtain client feedback on summer programming.
  • Support clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), which may include helping someone dress, eat and drink, use the washroom, and with other personal hygiene needs.
  • Provide direct hands-on assistance to clients and support summer employees with duties as assigned.
  • Arrange transportation for clients to attend programs, as required.
  • Transport program equipment to locations in and around Winnipeg.
  • Set up and clean up at activities.
  • Assist in planning for fall and winter programming.
  • Adhere to all Manitoba Possible policies and guidelines.

  • Other duties assigned related to the job scope.
