About The Position

This role involves leading and delivering youth and community programming at Weisser Park Youth Center. The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for planning activities, supporting staff, and ensuring programs run smoothly, playing a key role in creating a positive experience for participants daily.

Requirements

• Two years post-high school education in Physical Education, Leisure Studies, or related field OR equivalent experience
• Strong organization, communication, and ability to lead activities independently
• Ability to track participation data and maintain records
• Strong communication skills-both with youth and the public
• Ability to follow safety procedures and program guidelines

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with youth or in recreation programs preferred
• Valid Indiana Driver's License (if operating City vehicle)
• First Aid & CPR (required within two weeks of hire)
• ServSafe Certification

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and evaluate youth and community activities
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and organized program spaces
• Track attendance, participation, and program data accurately
• Support daily operations including registration, setup, and communication
• Step in where needed-covering programs, assisting staff, and supporting facility needs
• Provide daily oversight of 5–10 seasonal staff
