About The Position

This classification is responsible for assisting with parks and recreation operations and activities. The role involves customer service, monitoring facility usage, assisting with daily operations, responding to emergencies, completing documentation, operating office equipment, and communicating with various stakeholders. Specific duties may vary depending on assignment, such as at a Recreation Center which may involve handling payments, managing schedules, registering participants, and performing facility opening/closing procedures. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to perform all essential position functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers.
  • Must be neatly groomed and willing to wear and maintain county-issued clothing.
  • Must be present and punctual on all scheduled days.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Performs customer service functions, answers telephone calls, and provides information about department programs, activities, and procedures.
  • Monitors individuals and organizations using recreation facilities and participating in programs, assisting instructors and explaining rules.
  • Assists with daily facility operations, including setting up equipment and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Responds to emergency situations related to recreation center operations or athletic fields.
  • Completes various forms, reports, and other documentation.
  • Operates personal computers and general office equipment, utilizing various software programs.
  • Communicates with supervisor, other departments, employees, instructors, coaches, officials, organizations, and the public to coordinate activities and resolve problems.
  • Provides community information regarding recreation programs, activities, facilities, schedules, and fees.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable department and county policies and procedures.
  • Inspects facilities to ensure timely preparation for activities, identifies issues, and initiates corrective action or reports problems.
  • Receives and records payments for fees, issues receipts, and forwards revenues (at Recreation Centers).
  • Maintains and posts activity and room reservation schedules (at Recreation Centers).
  • Registers individuals for programs and facilities, collects fees, and maintains registration records (at Recreation Centers).
  • Performs facility opening and closing procedures (at Recreation Centers).
  • Performs general clerical tasks such as making copies, filing, and processing mail.
  • Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
