About The Position

Morgan Creek Seniors Community is seeking a Recreation Assistant to support the delivery of meaningful recreational and social programs for residents. Working as part of the Recreation and Care team, the Recreation Assistant helps promote resident engagement, wellbeing, and quality of life through a variety of activities and events.

Requirements

  • Experience working with seniors, preferably in long-term care or assisted living
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compassionate, patient, and able to engage residents with diverse abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Positive and engaging personality
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for recreational programming
  • Ability to support residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Recreation Assistant Certificate, Activity Worker Certificate, or related education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and facilitating recreational and social activities for residents
  • Support group and one-to-one activities that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social wellbeing
  • Encourage resident participation and provide support during programs and outings
  • Prepare activity areas, equipment, and materials for scheduled programs
  • Maintain accurate activity attendance and documentation as required
  • Work collaboratively with the Recreation team, nursing staff, and volunteers
  • Support seasonal events, special celebrations, and community engagement opportunities
