About The Position

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking enthusiastic and dependable Part-Time Recreation Assistants to join our Family Support Department. In this role, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by helping facilitate enjoyable recreational, social, and community-based activities throughout Ocean County. This position focuses on promoting social engagement, community inclusion, independence, and meaningful experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing required, with no more than five (5) points.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated work stability preferred, including at least one (1) year with a previous employer.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with disabilities during recreational, social, and community-based activities.
• Assist with coordinating and participating in group outings, special events, and recreational programming including dances, fitness activities, arts and crafts, cooking groups, and community trips.
• Encourage participation, positive social interaction, and engagement in all program activities.
• Provide transportation to activities and outings using agency vehicles when required.
• Offer supervision, support, and guidance to individuals during on-site and community activities.
• Promote independence, relationship-building, and community inclusion through positive interactions and structured recreational opportunities.
• Serve as a positive role model while maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for participants.
