About The Position

Camp Widjiwagan of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee is looking for an energetic and service-minded Recreation Assistant to help bring group events and retreats to life. This role involves setting up and leading activities such as crafts, ropes, canoeing, archery, horseback riding, and more. The assistant will work closely with guests to ensure activities are safe, well-organized, and fun, regardless of weather conditions. Responsibilities also include maintaining program areas, supporting team members, and ensuring guests feel welcome and cared for.

Requirements

• Minimum age: 18
• Basic CPR/First Aid/AED within 30 days of hire or before your first shift with children
• Certification (Y-provided) in at least one specialty activity (e.g., ropes or archery)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A professional attitude, sound judgment, and a passion for creating great experiences
• Willingness to work outdoors and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• At least 1 year of customer service experience preferred
