About The Position

We are looking for a Recreation Aide to join our Point Grey Private Hospital team in Vancouver, B.C.! This role implements recreation programs which include activities such as outings, parties, exercises, crafts and entertainment. The Recreation Aide organizes resident activities and trips outside the facility while ensuring that the residents have proper clothing and necessary equipment for the activity, confirms details of the proposed activity with nursing/administration staff, coordinates the movement of residents during the activity and teaches the techniques of the related activity. The role also involves consulting with family and nursing staff to determine activities that meet residents’ needs, designing an appropriate variety of recreation programs tailored to resident needs, and monitoring and evaluating resident progress through activity programs. Observations such as emotional wellbeing and social behavior are reported to nursing staff as required. The Recreation Aide also maintains an inventory of equipment, tools and materials and reports malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to the appropriate staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate or diploma program.
  • Health Care Provider level First Aid Certificate (Current).
  • Proof of COVID vaccination.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a senior’s focused recreation department an asset.
