About The Position

The Recreation Aide assists the Recreation Leaders with daily operation of the facility and recreation programs. The Recreation Aide will always work with a Recreation Leader or a full-time Supervisor. An employee in this position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service when assisting the public using various communication methods. The Recreation Aide is a part-time, seasonal position.

Requirements

Candidate must be at least 16 years of age and customer service-oriented.
Basic mathematical skills and decision-making skills are required.
Basic understanding of sport knowledge and application of rules and regulation of sports are expected.
Ability to remain focused on the job, while dealing with interruptions.
Ability to read and comprehend verbal instructions from Facility Managers and Recreation Leaders.
Ability to move around and be able to lift at least 30lbs.
Work requires the ability to physically perform the basic life operations functions of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Nice To Haves

Considerable knowledge of athletic field layout and preparation.
Strong communication and customer service skills, enthusiasm for working with all populations, and personal maturity.

Responsibilities

Assists Supervisor with daily operation of the facility and recreation programs.
Provides outstanding customer service when assisting the public using various communication methods.
Maintains familiarity with the facility and the Town’s programs.
Cleans up before, during, and after events and rentals.
Reports any damaged equipment or low inventory items to their Supervisor immediately.
Oversees park grounds during events and rentals.
Keeps score and minor statistics in center sports leagues.
Monitors athletic teams to ensure events are conducted safely.
Ensures the court or field is ready for gameplay.
Attends all staff training prior to start of season.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
