About The Position

Responsible for assisting with recreational activities and services for all persons using the Garland recreation centers. This position involves providing information to the public, registering participants, performing custodial duties, assisting with inventory, supervising activities, and enforcing policies. The role requires interaction with the public, maintaining a clean and orderly facility, and ensuring the proper setup for events and activities.

Requirements

  • Education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Age – 16 years and up
  • Basic knowledge of a variety of recreation activities and the ability to communicate that knowledge into organized activities
  • Basic knowledge of First Aid and CPR procedures
  • Basic knowledge of supervision procedures for activities and events
  • Basic knowledge of recreational equipment and correct operation
  • Basic skill in operating office equipment and personal computer
  • Basic skill in operating equipment and supplies for custodial or technical assignments
  • Ability to work independently of the supervisor
  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Six months to one year experience in a recreation or sports facility

Responsibilities

  • Provide information to the public regarding recreation center activities.
  • Register participants for classes and activities.
  • Assist the public via phone or walk-up to give information regarding programs, schedules and other related information.
  • Perform custodial and customer service to keep the Recreation Center clean, orderly and properly set up for events and activities.
  • Assist in inventory control of equipment and supplies.
  • Supervise recreation activities and events.
  • Enforce and maintain City and Department policies as needed including interpreting and relating department rules and policies to customers.
