About The Position

Woodland Job Corps Center is seeking a Part-Time Recreation Staff member to join their team. This role involves creating a positive, safe, and engaging environment for students by providing a variety of recreational, wellness, leadership, and evening activities. The goal is to encourage student participation, teamwork, personal development, and healthy lifestyles. The ideal candidate is energetic, dependable, passionate about helping young adults, and enjoys organizing activities to make a positive impact.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates of Arts Degree or 1-year related experience working with youth.
  • Must possess a valid in-State Driver’s License and meet Company insurability requirements.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and supervising a diverse recreation program.
  • Promote health and wellness through recreational, fitness, social, and leisure activities.
  • Support recreation activities and evening programming in accordance with the approved recreation schedule.
  • Coordinate activities with Career Preparation Period (CPP), Social Development, and other Center departments.
  • Assist with recreation and leadership activities in partnership with Center staff and local community resources.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and positive guidance to students during recreation activities.
  • Encourage teamwork, leadership, personal responsibility, and positive student behavior.
  • Document student participation and attendance during recreation activities.
  • Maintain recreation equipment, supplies, and inventory.
  • Monitor the proper use and condition of recreation equipment and recommend purchases as needed.
  • Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance of equipment when appropriate.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, organization, and overall condition of recreation facilities.
  • Assist with or oversee the Student Recreation Aide program, as assigned.
  • Mentor, monitor, and model Career Success Standards in accordance with PRH requirements.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across departments to support student success and Center operations.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, supervisors, and community partners.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely information when requested.
  • Follow all Center policies, safety procedures, integrity guidelines, and program requirements.
  • Maintain reliable attendance, punctuality, accountability, and productivity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
