The Bizzell-Group: New Haven Job Corps is a career training center dedicated to empowering young adults through education, hands-on experience, and personal development. Our program provides a supportive environment where students can gain the skills, certifications, and confidence needed to pursue rewarding careers. With a focus on both academic achievement and practical training, we partner with local employers and community organizations to ensure our graduates are prepared to meet the demands of today’s workforce. This role assists with work involved in planning, organizing, and carrying out the department’s total recreational services. The advisor explains and demonstrates the uses of supplies and equipment, and the techniques and procedures used in activity sessions. They exercise professional judgment and responsibility in the conduct of specialty activities and administer a well-rounded program of diversified activities in the assigned recreation component. The advisor submits all supply needs, keeping a daily record of attendance in assigned recreational activities, arts and crafts, movie, weight room, intramurals, etc. They maintain discipline, cleanliness, and inventory control in assigned areas, and post schedules of monthly activities and special events. Additionally, they submit a schedule of special activities for the upcoming month to their supervisor on the last Wednesday of each month, and a list of monthly off-Center cultural activities and other events for the upcoming month’s calendar of off-Center trips. The advisor maintains a stocked first aid kit in their assigned area, keeps recreational equipment in good condition, and assists in the recruitment of volunteers, supervising and directing any assigned personnel. They project a positive self-image, encourage enthusiastic participation, and chaperone and direct off-Center trips, ensuring necessary funds are available. The advisor submits time sheets and other reports timely, assists with and trains student leaders, and follows the CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily. They comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) Bizzell policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures. They adhere to required property control policies and procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and comply with safety practices. The advisor demonstrates and abides by The Bizzell Group’s core values and operating principles, models, mentors, and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards, and helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement. They participate in PRH mandated staff training and perform other duties as assigned.
