About The Position

GAAMHA is seeking a Recovery Supportive Transportation (RST) Driver who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals in recovery. This role goes beyond driving, involving peer support, encouragement, and acting as a trusted ally. The driver will provide safe and reliable transportation while offering peer support and coaching to individuals on their recovery journey. At GAAMHA, every ride is seen as a step towards healing, dignity, and independence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 3 years of driving experience with a clean driving record
  • Lived experience in recovery with 1 year of sustained sobriety
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a mobile phone
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • All applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen, CORI, and fingerprinting

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of CCAR Recovery Coach Academy & Ethics training (or must be completed within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Transport participants to and from recovery-related services, appointments, and community activities, ensuring dignity and safety.
  • Offer peer-based recovery support and coaching during transit, building trust, compassion, and hope.
  • Assist riders with mobility needs, including wheelchairs and accessibility features, ensuring no one is left unattended.
  • Utilize lived experience to inspire confidence and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
  • Connect participants to community supports and networks that enhance their recovery journey.
  • Accurately complete mileage logs, timesheets, vehicle checklists, and participant notes.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies or unusual situations following GAAMHA’s protocols, prioritizing safety.
  • Attend trainings, team meetings, and supervision, contributing to GAAMHA’s supportive culture.
