About The Position

San Luis Valley Behavioral Health Group in Alamosa, CO is seeking a dedicated full-time Recovery Support Specialist to join their mission-driven team. This role focuses on helping others navigate their recovery journey and make a meaningful difference. The organization is a community-based non-profit focused on enhancing mental health and well-being in the San Luis Valley, working with local agencies to provide compassionate care with an emphasis on hope, healing, and recovery.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with substance-use populations
  • Ability to obtain a Peer Specialist certification within 90 days
  • Must be a current or former client (or family member of a client) of mental health services
  • Organizational skills and creative problem-solving
  • Crisis-intervention knowledge
  • Ability to observe, document, and report client progress
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to perform light physical work
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Guide clients in their recovery journey by providing encouragement, sharing experiences, and modeling healthy coping skills.
  • Support individuals in outpatient settings.
  • Advocate for client needs.
  • Help build client confidence.
  • Document client progress.
  • Collaborate with the care team.
  • Empower clients to regain control of their wellness.
