Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts. Department/Program: Residential Recovery Services Reports To: Program Director Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 3pm - 11pm Job Summary: The Recovery Specialist Supervisor trains, supervises, and coaches direct care staff in the development of co-occurring treatment skills and provides administration of operation and compliance activities to support overall program functioning. The Recovery Specialist Supervisor contributes to Bay Cove’s mission by ensuring quality treatment is provided in a safe and welcoming environment for those in pursuit of their recovery goals. This is an exempt position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working in substance use disorder/behavioral health treatment settings required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, delegation, communication, and team building skills.
  • Demonstrated professional writing, interpersonal, and organization skills.
  • Basic proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a sustained effort to seek out, acknowledge, and respect the diverse voices of all stakeholders and to advance inclusivity through every function of the role and the agency as a whole.
  • Ability to enter and navigate various physical environments, including multi-story buildings without the use of an elevator.
  • Ability to use a computer, tablet, and mobile phone for data entry, communication, and record-keeping.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (e.g., sitting at a desk or in meetings) for extended periods while completing documentation and administrative tasks.
  • Frequent movement throughout the program to conduct wellness/safety checks, check the physical environment, and move supplies.
  • Frequent and clear communication with individuals, colleagues, and partners, requiring the ability to exchange accurate information in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of program materials, supplies, or small equipment (up to 20 pounds).
  • Ability to provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and overdose rescue (naloxone administration) if needed.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • At least one (1) years experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent supervision and capacity building for the Recovery Specialists.
  • Coach staff in the development of co-occurring treatment skills during evenings and weekends when the Clinical Director is not on-site.
  • Train all regular, per diem, and temporary direct care staff on program policies, procedures, and safety practices as assigned, including the provision of safety wellness/safety checks.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide coaching to ensure role competence, fidelity to the evidence-based practices, and consistent application of safety procedures.
  • Role-model trauma-informed therapeutic interactions with residents and promote resident engagement in wellness and recreational activities.
  • Perform and document weekly audits of camera footage to verify adherence to safety practices and provide performance feedback and retraining as needed.
  • Identify emerging issues with residents, staff, and the property, take necessary follow up actions, and escalate to the manager on-call staff when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with DPH regulation, BSAS Standards of Care, payor performance specifications, accreditation standards, and Bay Cove Human Services policy and procedure by completing, documenting, and storing forms for assigned/scheduled compliance activities.
  • Manage staffing and program resources carefully to ensure sound fiscal management.
  • Provide on-call coverage on nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
  • Serve as the program’s Access/CLAS Coordinator. Support the team in the evaluation, improvement planning, and implementation of efforts to ensure equitable access to services as required by 105 CMR 164.040(A)(11). Attend CLAS training.
  • Serve as the program’s HIV/AIDS/HEP C Coordinator. Oversee resident and staff education, risk assessment, access to counseling and testing, and standards of care. Attend PACNET meetings and relevant Bureau of Infectious Disease meetings, conferences and trainings.
  • Serve as the program’s Tobacco Education Coordinator (TEC). Oversees implementation of BSAS guidelines for integrating tobacco assessment, education, and treatment. Attend TEC meetings and trainings.
  • Serve as the program’s Human Rights Coordinator (HRC). Provides staff and residents with training on resident rights and grievance processes and serves as liaison to the agency’s human rights department.
