About The Position

This position has a term length of 33 months. The Recovery on Campus (ROC) Coordinator is an integral member of the Student Success & Experience interdisciplinary mental health and wellness care team. Serving as a vital bridge between the broader University of Alberta campus and the University of Alberta Recovery Community (UARC-ROC) team, this role is a key driver of recovery-focused initiatives on campus. Embedded within the Wellness Supports team, the ROC Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing development, implementation, and coordination of a comprehensive Collegiate Recovery Program. The primary objective of this role is to intentionally destigmatize recovery while supporting, growing, and strengthening a vibrant student recovery community.

Requirements

  • Collaborative leader passionate about mental health, harm reduction, and building inclusive campus communities.
  • Ability to serve as a bridge between the broader University of Alberta campus and the University of Alberta Recovery Community (UARC-ROC) team.
  • Ability to drive recovery-focused initiatives on campus.
  • Ability to foster a workplace that prioritizes safety in all its forms—physical, cultural, and psychological.
  • Ability to promote a safe environment, adhere to all safety laws, policies and procedures, complete all required safety training, identify hazards and implement controls, report incidents, and contribute to a culture of belonging and respect.
  • Ability to ensure all colleagues feel valued and safe to express their thoughts, perspectives and concerns.
