About The Position

This role focuses on supporting youth in their recovery and development by providing individualized skill-building, mentorship, and advocacy. The specialist will help young people navigate complex systems, access resources, and make informed decisions about their career journeys. A key aspect of the role involves maintaining accurate records to ensure program effectiveness. The position requires a high degree of mobility and the ability to adapt to various situations and locations, including potential exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) credential or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and active automobile insurance.
  • Must meet and maintain DHS Driver Standards requirements.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based prevention and early intervention practices.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, positive youth development, treatment engagement strategies, and culturally responsive service delivery.
  • Strong communication, advocacy, relationship-building, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse youth, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, including any physical requirements, with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to swiftly move and adapt to different situations and tasks, potentially including different agency locations or community locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with adolescents and young adults preferred.
  • Knowledge of ODHS Child Welfare systems and community resources preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized skill-building and coaching to youth to strengthen essential life and workforce skills.
  • Facilitate career-focused groups and workshops.
  • Organize college and jobsite tours.
  • Build genuine connections with youth, share relevant and intentional experiences to instill confidence and build trust.
  • Help young people navigate complex systems, access resources, and collaborate with other providers.
  • Assist youth in making informed decisions about their own career journey.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records.
