Recovery Engineer II - Rocket Transport and Recovery

Relativity Space•Cape Canaveral, FL
•$104,000 - $156,000

About The Position

The Recovery Engineer II will lead the design, integration, checkout, and operation of recovery subsystems in preparation for and during Terran R flight campaigns. The role develops and maintains procedures for safe, reliable recovery-vessel operations and collaborates with Terran R and recovery-vessel engineering teams to resolve technical challenges, improve systems, and optimize operations. The engineer plans and executes activation and checkout testing for barge subsystems, including high-pressure fluid and high-voltage systems, following safety procedures and risk controls. The role also analyzes system performance, troubleshoots issues, and coordinates corrective actions to support operational readiness. Recovery operations may take place offshore and involve extended-duration flight campaign activities. The Offshore Recovery team designs, builds, and operates maritime vessels used to land and recover the Terran R launch vehicle. Team work spans the project lifecycle, from requirements definition and design through shipyard build and activation to offshore recovery missions, in collaboration with teams across the company.
