About The Position

This is a part-time position where employees observe the drug screening process for male individuals. Hamilton County follows Federal Work-place Drug Testing Guidelines, which require the observer and monitor to be of the same gender as the donor, unless the monitor is a medical professional. Therefore, only applicants of the male gender will be considered for this position. Under general supervision, the Recovery Court Driver operates a twelve (12) to fifteen (15) person passenger van, and other vehicles, to support the Hamilton County Recovery Court Program by transporting participants.

Requirements

  • Equivalent of a high school diploma.
  • Two (2) years of direct work experience in the operation of a twelve (12) to fifteen (15) person passenger van.
  • Valid class F driver’s license from the state of Tennessee or equivalent from the applicant’s state of residence.
  • Must have completed the Hamilton County Defensive Driving course issued by the National Safety Council and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided by the department prior to operating a County-owned vehicle.

  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a twelve (12) to fifteen (15) person passenger van to transport Hamilton County Recovery Court participants from pick-up stops, the Hamilton County Courthouse, the Recovery Court treatment center, and inpatient treatment locations.
  • Performs vehicle and equipment checks to ensure safe operation and performs preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Receives daily instructions from the Recovery Court Program Coordinator.
  • Ensures workplace safety.
  • Maintains documentation of work performed and vehicle service records.
  • Conducts and monitors drug and alcohol screening for program participants on an as-needed basis.
