We invite you to partner with us in our mission to improve mental healthcare. This is an On-Call Recovery Counselor position for the Fresno Crisis Residential Treatment Facility. The facility is a 24/7 inpatient voluntary program with a 16-bed capacity for adults (ages 18-59). The program offers rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services, pre-vocational or vocational counseling, and medication evaluation and support services.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) required.
  • Valid CPR, First Aid, and ProAct certifications are required within 30 days of employment.
  • Six (6) months of direct care experience in a mental health setting preferred. (A non-professional, consumer-directed internship may be substituted.)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a social science field preferred.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and eligibility to meet agency driving criteria preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and assists clients with self-help skills in the areas of eating, hygiene and grooming and other activities or nursing activities.
  • Monitors client’s attendance at assigned activities and maximizes client participation through appropriate motivational techniques.
  • Conducts and assists both large and small activity groups and outings independently but under the supervision of the Program Manager or his/her designee.
  • Encourages client’s interaction and socialization with other peers, providing feedback to clients on appropriate behavior while acting as a role model.
  • Accurate documents in writing each client’s attendance and response to activity and therapeutic groups or individual counseling in the individual medical record.
  • Attends and actively participates in Treatment Team meetings, as needed
