About The Position

The Tissue Recovery Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the logistics of tissue recovery for transplant. This role involves reviewing medical records, completing donor charts, and leading a recovery team. The coordinator also ensures timely follow-up post-recovery and communicates with various stakeholders including donor families, physicians, hospital staff, funeral homes, and external organizations like Organ Procurement Organizations and Eye Banks. Additionally, the role includes providing staff training, educating professionals and the public about donation, organizing and delivering surveys and statistics to hospital administration, assisting with hospital in-services and education events, and coordinating the storage, irradiation, and return of autologous tissue. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant medical experience.
  • Must be able to meet minimum on-call requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Overnight travel may be required, including flights on commercial aircraft.
  • A valid driver’s license and considered insurable by Solvita’s insurance provider.
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • To meet the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of gross anatomy and sterile technique.
  • Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) credential.
  • Experience or training in surgical technology/operating room procedures, allied health, medical, technical or mortuary field.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics for the recovery of tissue for transplant, review medical records, and complete donor charts.
  • Lead a recovery team to facilitate recoveries, and ensure a timely follow-up is completed post-recovery with all applicable constituents.
  • Communicate with donor families, physicians, hospital staff, funeral homes, and external customers such as Organ Procurement Organization and Eye Banks.
  • Provide day-to-day staff training and education relating to recovery.
  • Educate professionals and public about donation.
  • Organize and delivers surveys to hospital staff then comprises and delivers statistics to hospital administration.
  • Assist with hospital in-services, health fairs and professional and public education.
  • Coordinate the storage, irradiation and return of autologous tissue.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
