About The Position

Under the direction of the Team Leader, the Recover Clerk's responsibilities include tending to the shopping needs of customers, greeting, interacting, and monitoring customers to help the store in loss prevention, and merchandising and organizing hard goods, accessories, and clothing racks. The organization is governed by a 56-member Board of Directors and employs over 600 staff. Goodwill Industries of Dallas, Inc. exists to help persons with disabilities and other barriers to employment get jobs so that each can experience dignity, purpose, and self-sufficiency. Goodwill does this by helping people build skills, find jobs, and reach their goals in life through a donated goods business, workforce development and other social enterprise models. Last year, Goodwill Dallas placed over 1,000 individuals with jobs - earning more than $22 million in wages. Requirements

  • Ability to adhere to the organization’s Core Principles.
  • Knowledge of textile articles related to quality and garment classification (gowns, shirts, pants, etc.).
  • Knowledge of retail and/or stock handling.
  • Ability to listen and follow directions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and toि multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push and pull.
  • Sufficient mobility to turn from side to side and the ability to lean and remove items from containers.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail and/or stock handling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exemplary customer service and assist customers with the selection of merchandise.
  • Examine the sales floor to ensure merchandise is well-stocked, well-maintained, and properly sized.
  • Assist in maintaining the store appearance.
  • Keep the sales floor area clean and safe and other store areas as directed.
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance and appropriate dress code including name badge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Team Lead or Production Team Leader.
