About The Position

The Records Management Specialist is responsible for managing classified and unclassified paper and digital records throughout their lifecycle in a secure Army cyber environment. This includes creation, archiving, storage, accessibility, and disposal of records in compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Army regulations. The role ensures information security, supports mission-critical operations. The specialist collaborates with cybersecurity and IT professionals to implement secure records management systems and trains personnel on proper handling of sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance: SECRET
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years in records management or information governance within a DoD or military environment.
  • Familiarity with Army cybersecurity policies, NIST standards, and RMF (Risk Management Framework).
  • Strong understanding of classified/unclassified data handling and DoD security requirements.
  • Proficiency in records management systems and secure document handling tools.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of DoD 5015.2 Records Management Standard.
  • Familiarity with Army Knowledge Online (AKO), SharePoint, and secure content management systems.
  • Ability to work in a high-security environment and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Secure Records Lifecycle Management:
  • Manage creation, classification, archiving, storage, and disposal of physical and electronic records in accordance with DoD and Army cybersecurity policies.
  • Handle organizational documentation, system configurations, database information, and operational research data.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for records while ensuring proper security protocols.
  • Policy & Compliance:
  • Develop and enforce records management policies aligned with Army and DoD directives.
  • Ensure compliance with FOIA, Privacy Act, and federal cybersecurity regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving government legislation and Army records retention schedules.
  • System Design & Cybersecurity Integration:
  • Design and implement secure records management systems that meet Army cybersecurity standards.
  • Oversee transformation of records from physical to electronic formats while ensuring encryption and secure access controls.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to safeguard sensitive and classified information.
  • Training & Support:
  • Train Army personnel and contractors on proper records handling, secure access, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide guidance on using records management tools and adhering to security protocols.
