About The Position

The Records & Information Management Office at the University of Virginia seeks applications for a Records Management Analyst. Reporting to the University Records Officer, the Records Management Analyst supports University of Virginia staff and faculty compliance with records management policies and standards. Working within a small collaborative team, the Records Management Analyst is responsible for supporting the University community throughout the records lifecycle through outreach, consultation, and training initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree. 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least two years of relevant experience.

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of two years’ experience.
  • Professional records management experience in a university setting or in an agency operating under the Virginia Public Records Act is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate records management requirements to stakeholders.
  • Qualitative, analytical, writing, and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with records and information management software, eDiscovery software, and Microsoft Purview.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the University Records Officer to develop and implement records management guidance and services for the University community in compliance with the Virginia Public Records Act (VPRA).
  • Consult with university faculty and staff to provide direction on records management best practices, services, and systems.
  • Deliver in-person and web-based records management training for faculty and staff.
  • Support the management of records throughout their lifecycle by reviewing and approving destruction requests and transferring physical records to the university’s off-site storage vendor.
  • Maintain department website in compliance with web content accessibly guidelines.
  • Assist university offices with preservation, collection, ingestion, and review of electronically stored information (ESI) in compliance with university policy.
  • Provide high quality, customer-focused and continually improving service to the university community.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable records management laws, regulations, policies, accreditation standards, and best practices to monitor advancements in records and information management.
  • Perform other duties assigned to benefit the university's records management program.
