About The Position

The Reconditioning Coordinator is responsible for managing, writing, and tracking all Reconditioning, PDI, and Inventory Recall processes. This role involves communication, work allocation, supervision, and training of technicians and porters to ensure efficient team performance and a compliant reconditioning process. The primary goal is the efficient and timely processing of used vehicle reconditioning, PDIs, and recall completion for all new and used vehicles, supporting the AutoNation four-day turnaround target. Key objectives include increasing used vehicle gross and average monthly sales by providing high-quality, front-line ready vehicles, and increasing After-Sales Internal Gross by managing the Recall, Reconditioning, and PDI process.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Manage, write, and track all Reconditioning, PDI, and Inventory Recall processes.
  • Allocate work, supervise, and train technicians and porters.
  • Ensure efficient and timely processing of used vehicle reconditioning, PDIs, and recall completion.
  • Support the AutoNation four-day turnaround target.
  • Write all internal repair orders for PDI, CPO, New/Used Required Recalls, and reconditioning service for all used vehicles.
  • Participate in service and sales team meetings to provide updates on prior day performance.
  • Maintain a schedule of Reconditioning/PDI Service Technician and Porter absences for training, vacation, or personal reasons to assure proper staffing.
  • Identify all store inventory with open recalls, schedule, and complete them when parts are available.
  • Liaise with parts/service teams for timely recall completion.
  • Liaise with other company stores or non-company stores for recall completion of non-brand products.
  • Conduct walk-around inspections with the Used Car Manager of all store-owned vehicles prior to recon to identify inspection/certification needs and requirements to meet AutoNation Appearance Standards.
  • Create comprehensive estimates based on inspections and technician findings, including specific work required, total cost, and timing.
  • Communicate via RPR Compass (when available) to get approval for additional work.
  • Ensure all repairs are on a single repair order and closed by the next business day of work completion.
  • Manage all Reconditioning within the After-Sales Compass RPR system, maintaining the status of all vehicles.
  • Ensure best parts options and correct prices are used for all recon work.
  • Ensure correct labor time and sale amount are used based on an approved labor time guide.
  • Ensure each CPO criterion is fulfilled, consistent with OEM and AN Standards.
  • Manage Reconditioning Vendor relationships to improve quality, cycle time, and accurate timely invoices.
