The Receptionist is responsible for completing outpatient registration, which includes generating a chart with patient demographic information, collecting patient insurance and/or payment information, and obtaining appropriate signatures. The role also involves entering diagnosis codes, managing patient payments, providing medical information to requesting agencies, typing correspondence and reports, filing information, and entering medical record information into patient charts. Additionally, the receptionist serves as the primary point of contact for telephone communication, answers the telephone, takes messages, and directs calls. This position assists in scheduling referrals, maintaining medical record files, and managing inventory of medical and office supplies. The receptionist participates in in-service and quality improvement programs, collaborates with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care, and maintains good public relations for the clinic. Other duties as needed or requested will also be performed.
