The Fridays & Sundays Part-Time Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, referral sources, and hospital staff. This position plays a vital role in creating a welcoming environment while supporting the admissions process, telecommunications, insurance verification, and other administrative functions to ensure excellent patient service. Integrates the hospital’s mission and “Guiding Principles” into daily practice.

Requirements

• One year of reception experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Insurance verification experience preferred.
• Prior authorization experience preferred.
• OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates general computer proficiency including data entry, word processing, email, and electronic record management.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact by greeting patients, visitors, and vendors in a friendly and professional manner.
• Answer incoming telephone calls and direct callers appropriately.
• Provide hospital telecommunications services utilizing telephones, paging systems, radios, and other communication tools.
• Facilitate patient flow from referral through admission in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
• Obtain and verify demographic and financial information to ensure accurate patient registration and billing.
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility as needed.
• Assist with obtaining and tracking prior authorizations when applicable.
• Validate and enter charges into appropriate systems.
• Maintain records related to hospital telecommunications, on-call schedules, paging, and other communication activities.
• Adapt to changing priorities while maintaining effective communication and exceptional customer service.
• Protect patient confidentiality and comply with all hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.
• Support the hospital's mission, values, and Guiding Principles through daily interactions with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support hospital operations.
