About The Position

The Receptionist will be responsible for answering telephone calls and routine inquiries, making necessary connections on a PBX, and placing local and long distance calls. This role involves routing routine and emergency calls, paging, locating, and relaying messages for physicians and facility personnel. The Receptionist will also sign for, receive, and route incoming mail and courier deliveries, and provide back-up clerical support to various departments. This position serves as a "gatekeeper" and "gateway," researching, prioritizing, and following up on incoming issues and concerns, determining the appropriate course of action, referral, or response. The Receptionist will receive, direct, and screen visitors and clients, handle requests for information and data, and respond to and resolve problems and inquiries. General clerical duties include photocopying, faxing, mailing, filing, sorting and distributing correspondence, and preparing and modifying documents. Additionally, the Receptionist will prepare for daily visitation, educate patients and families on safety standards, keep the lobby area tidy, and ensure compliance with facility safety, infection control, and security programs. This role supports facility internal and external customer service standards and upholds the organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • 1 year experience answering multi-line phone systems and customer service preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Current CPR upon hire.
  • Must provide proof of approved (AHA/ARC) current CPR maintain approved CPR certification prior to hire as well as successful completion of Management of Assaultive Behavior training including restraint and seclusion policies prior to assuming patient care responsibility.
  • Must maintain current CPR and Handle with Care.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • BLS and Handle with Care certifications a plus.

  • Prepares for daily visitation, ensuring families sign in and observe confidentiality.
  • Educate patients and families on patient safety standards and items not allowed for patients.
  • Keeps lobby area tidy throughout shift and ensures adequate supply of beverages, cups, etc.
  • Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.
  • Supports facility internal and external customer service standards.
  • Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
