Location: 180 East Pulaski Road Days: Monday to Friday, 2 Saturdays/month Hours: 7:00am - 4:00pm, Saturday 7:20am-12:0pm Full-time: Benefit Eligible Hourly Rate: $17.50 - $18.50/hr The Receptionist – Phlebotomy Laboratory serves as the first point of contact for patients, clients, and visitors entering the laboratory service area. This position is responsible for greeting patients, verifying demographic and insurance information, registering laboratory orders, scheduling appointments, answering phones, coordinating specimen flow, and providing clerical support to the phlebotomy and laboratory team. The Receptionist helps ensure a smooth, efficient, and patient-centered experience while maintaining compliance with privacy, safety, and laboratory protocols. Similar front-end duties commonly include patient identification, order entry, and database accuracy in lab workflows. In this role, you will: Greet and check in patients for laboratory and phlebotomy services Verify patient identity using established protocols Confirm physician orders, requisitions, and test requests Enter patient demographics, insurance, and test information into the laboratory information system (LIS) or EMR Schedule phlebotomy and specimen collection appointments Answer incoming calls and assist patients, providers, and client offices with questions Print specimen labels and prepare paperwork for phlebotomists Receive, log, and route incoming specimens from courier or walk-in patients Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate prior to specimen collection Maintain front desk supplies, forms, and office materials Coordinate communication between patients, phlebotomists, couriers, and laboratory staff Assist with scanning, filing, faxing, and record retention Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and patient privacy Resolve patient concerns professionally and escalate issues when needed Support wait-time management and patient flow during peak periods
