About The Position

St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, is hiring a Receptionist for the parish. This part-time position is responsible for providing general office support with a variety of clerical duties and related activities. The receptionist will be responsible for greeting patrons in person and on the phone and directing them to appropriate personnel, while maintaining confidentiality and taking direction as needed. The role is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry, thereby engaging in ministry for the church. This position is eligible for medical insurance and other benefits offered by the Diocese of Corpus Christi.

  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church
  • Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Welcome visitors by greeting them (always seeing Christ in others), in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries and route calls to specified person
  • Transfer a caller to an associate’s voice mailbox when the associate is unavailable
  • Maintain confidentiality for parish
  • Maintain safe and clean reception area
  • Assist with correspondence including mail distribution, emails, and faxes
  • Work with Word, Excel, Publisher, and the online data system
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
