About The Position

The Receptionist position at Cardiology is responsible for managing the front desk operations, ensuring efficient patient flow, and maintaining accurate patient information. This role involves direct interaction with patients, families, and healthcare staff, requiring excellent communication and organizational skills. The receptionist plays a key role in patient registration, scheduling, financial transactions, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA laws.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge and proficiency of management information system (MEDENT), patient insurance products and financial classifications.
  • Oversee waiting area, coordinate patient movement, and report problems or irregularities.
  • Receive patients and greet customers in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner, providing necessary instructions/directions.
  • Inform the appropriate department/person of a patient's arrival.
  • Perform outpatient registration duties efficiently and courteously by accurately capturing and entering information.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and record any additions or cancellations to the provider appointment system.
  • Enter add-ons, no-shows, and cancellations in the scheduling system to accurately reflect patient appointment status.
  • Prepare medical records for provider staff use.
  • Reconcile charge capture sheets and patient visits schedules to ensure a charge capture sheet has been processed for each visit.
  • Provide directions and information on areas within the office and at Community Memorial Hospital to patients and visitors.
  • Answer telephones, take accurate messages, and provide messages to the nurse or provider.
  • Provide coverage to other clinics as the need arises.

  • Act as a liaison between patients, families, clinic staff, and providers regarding problems and concerns related to patient visits, referring patient concerns to the Vice President Administrative Services.
  • Develop and maintain courteous working relationships with internal customers including clinical staff, providers, billing staff, and other hospital personnel.
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of individual members as part of the healthcare team and interact effectively and sensitively with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Present a positive image of Community Memorial Hospital through professional appearance and behavior.
  • Perform cashier duties: receive and keep receipts for all payments and credit card payments, maintain cash drawers, and balance daily.
  • Perform job responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy to ensure high billing quality standards and prompt payment from insurance carriers, directly affecting the hospital’s cash receipts and profitability.
  • Utilize Community Memorial Hospital's property and supplies appropriately and prudently to maximize cost effectiveness, conserve resources, and minimize waste.
  • Consistently ensure that information known about the patient is kept private and secure and according to HIPAA law.
  • Ensure that patient information is accurate.
  • Maintain open communication within the department and administration.
