About The Position

This role involves providing customer service, administrative support, and assisting with various banking operations. The Receptionist/Office Assistant will be responsible for answering phone calls, greeting customers, and handling a variety of customer service tasks such as balance inquiries, stop payment requests, and account transfers. They will also support the teller area with tasks like verifying money, recounting drawers, and assisting with coin machines and ATMs. Additionally, this position will aid loan administration with duties like copying, filing, and fielding loan clients. A key aspect of the role is maintaining knowledge of compliance and regulatory issues, as well as security procedures. The individual must ensure a neat work area, secure confidential records, and consistently provide excellent customer service with a friendly, positive, and professional attitude, resolving difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent; or high school senior student working in school Cooperative Education Program.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • PC and typing skills required.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Strong customer relations skills and ability to communicate and work well with employees and customers in a cooperative, positive manner.
  • Must possess good judgment skills and the ability to handle confidential information.

Nice To Haves

  • Cash handling and customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone calls, answering questions, routing and directing calls as appropriate.
  • Greet all customers courteously, determine their needs, and direct them to the proper person and/or department.
  • Provide a variety of customer service-related tasks, i.e.: balance inquiries, stop payment requests, check orders, account to account transfers, check encoding, address changes, debit card replacement and reprint requests, Reg E disputes, etc.
  • Assist teller area as needed, i.e.: verify money buys/sells, drawer recounts, coin machine assists/balancing, filling ATM, and other light teller tasks.
  • Assist loan administration assistant with various light duties as needed, i.e.: making copies, filing/imaging, fielding incoming loan clients and other loan tasks.
  • Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory issues relating to customer service areas (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, Regulations CC, E, DD, P, etc.) evidenced by appropriate application of these regulations in day-to-day operations.
  • Acquire and maintain thorough understanding of security procedures.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work area and ensure that all cash, negotiables and confidential records are secured and/or disposed of properly.
  • Consistently demonstrate proficiency in providing exemplary customer service in person and by telephone.
  • Actively listen to customers and maintain a friendly, positive and professional attitude.
  • Resolve difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Look for creative ways to make customers feel appreciated and special.
