About The Position

San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center (SG/PRC) is a private, nonprofit agency contracted with the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to provide services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We proudly serve 30 cities across the Foothill, Pomona, and El Monte Health Districts within Los Angeles County. Our services span the full lifespan—from infants and toddlers, school-age children, and transition-age youth to adults and aging adults. At SG/PRC, our work is guided by compassion, collaboration, integrity, and a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve. Under the direction of the Administrative Services Manager, the primary responsibility of the Receptionist/Clerk is to provide high quality customer service to our community by managing the Reception Desk and Mail Room.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Two years of clerical experience in a professional office, involving public contact.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance is required.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as a computer, postage machine and mail equipment, switchboard, paging system and copy and fax machines.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures, telephone techniques and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of postal procedures.
  • Ability to interact with others from a variety of cultural and social backgrounds in a positive manner.
  • Bilingual ability to communicate properly in English, Spanish or any Asian Language.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and minimum liability insurance coverage if using a private vehicle for agency purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating a switchboard and responding to multiple calls.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming entry environment.
  • Greet visitors and address their questions in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Operate switchboard and utilize the paging system to facilitate internal and external communication.
  • Answer and field incoming phone calls, directing them appropriately.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, including sorting, scanning documents, and handling bulk mailings.
  • Process incoming checks and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Operate large and complex copy machine efficiently.
  • Maintain agency forms.
  • Pick up and distribute interoffice mail twice daily to ensure timely delivery.
  • Perform occasional travel and work at the Irwindale Office when coverage is required.
  • Perform additional duties that support department and organizational goals.
