About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Receptionist/Admissions Clerk to join our team! This role is responsible for the efficient and orderly admission of outpatient testing or procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure patient information is collected and entered accurately into the computer system, and that all patients are aware of Urgent Care policies and procedures. This involves interviewing incoming patients or representatives, entering required admission information into the computer, and distributing appropriate information to ancillary departments. A key performance indicator for this role is maintaining a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or higher.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • One to three month’s related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively, before groups of customers and or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for obtaining signature on MSE and Condition of Admission forms.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, nurse managers, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Receive patient payments or a co-payment as required.
  • Posts transactions appropriately to system.
  • Counting till drawer and verifying correct amount at the beginning and ending of every shift.
  • Balancing/sending deposits, coding and billing, answering phones, scanning and discharging and medical records.
  • Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
  • Responsible for knowing Urgent Care policies and being familiar with services that are available.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with in the department and with other departments.
  • Participates in the educational programs, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
  • Attends all other meetings as required.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
