About The Position

Suncoast Hospice, a mission-oriented, non-profit hospice in sunny Florida, has an opportunity for a recent RN graduate wishing to enter into a residency program to learn the specialty practice of hospice and to grow with a leader in hospice care. This 12-month Nurse Residency program is designed to prepare the Nurse Resident to become a Certified Hospice Nurse. The program includes weekly classroom education, a 3:1 Nurse Resident / Clinical Coach ratio, and six months of practical experience facilitated by a Hospice Clinical Coach/Preceptor in a hospice house setting. Scheduled rotations with other hospice teams and service lines are also included. The Nurse Resident joins their new team in the seventh month with continued individualized orientation as needed.

Requirements

Recent grads welcome to apply; must have less than 1 year of RN experience for the residency program.
ASN or BSN degree from an accredited program required.
Current Florida RN License or multi-state compact license required.
Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and have means of transportation.
Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.

Nice To Haves

Clinical experience with hospice or ALF patients is preferred.

Responsibilities

Participate in a 12-month Nurse Residency program.
Attend weekly classroom education pertaining to the care of hospice patients & families.
Gain six months of practical experience facilitated by a Hospice Clinical Coach/Preceptor in a hospice house setting.
Complete scheduled rotations with other hospice teams, including Home, ALF, and Admissions service lines.
Join a new team in the seventh month with continued individualized orientation as needed.
