About The Position

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Receiving Supervisor oversees all receiving, returns, and inventory control activities within the warehouse. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely receipt, inspection, storage, return, and disposition of products while maintaining inventory integrity, operational efficiency, and workplace safety. The Receiving Supervisor leads and develops receiving personnel and establishes and enforces standard operating procedures. This position may occasionally fill the role of Operations Manager during periods of absence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communications
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective problem solving, resolution skills, and ability to exercise good judgement
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast pace and demanding work environment
  • Ability to handle multiple job duties with frequent interruptions
  • Requires a valid driver’s license, clean DMV record and current vehicle registration

Nice To Haves

  • associate’s degree in supply chain, Business, or related field preferred
  • Three or more years of warehouse, distribution, inventory control, or logistics experience preferred
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory software, or ERP systems preferred
  • Any combination of experience, education, and training that will provide the level of knowledge, skills, and ability required for the job

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor receiving department employees
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for receiving and returns processes
  • Train employees using standard operating procedures
  • Monitor errors and resolve procedural problems
  • Coordinating staffing needs with fellow department heads
  • Manage timecards/time off requests
  • Address performance concerns and administer corrective action in accordance with company policies
  • Match products to packing slips, check lots and expiration dates, watch for special orders and deal with any issues that arise regarding shipments
  • Properly match packing slips to purchase orders
  • Determine proper locations for new products and supervise the placement of products in the warehouse
  • Manage vendor and customer returns and repairs
  • Label products that are not clearly marked
  • Maintain oversight on expiration dates on products
  • Manage all quarantine and defective products
  • Coordinate vendor credits with sales and accounting departments
  • Excellent attendance and dependability are essential requirements of this job
  • Can work overtime as needed/required
  • Establishes and maintains positive work relationships with co-workers, management, customers, and vendors/suppliers
  • May be required to travel periodically
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, appearance and conduct at all times to represent the company in a professional manner
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and participates in group discussions
  • Performs other job-related job tasks, work assignments and/or special projects as directed/assigned by Management
