About The Position

The Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing all inbound inventory activities, ensuring accurate and timely receipt of plumbing, electrical, and related products into the warehouse. This role leads the receiving team, maintains inventory accuracy, coordinates with purchasing and warehouse operations, and ensures compliance with company safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of warehouse receiving experience.
  • 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP systems.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory software.
  • Strong customer service mindset when interacting with internal teams and vendors.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and warehouse equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in wholesale distribution, plumbing supply, electrical supply, or building materials.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Knowledge of inventory management best practices.
  • Experience with RF scanners and barcode systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily receiving activities for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related inventory.
  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents.
  • Inspect products for damage, shortages, overages, and quality issues.
  • Resolve discrepancies with vendors, purchasing, and management.
  • Ensure timely processing of all inbound freight.
  • Lead, train, coach, and support receiving personnel.
  • Assign daily workloads and monitor productivity.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Assist with performance evaluations and employee development.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper receiving procedures.
  • Coordinate cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Investigate and correct inventory variances.
  • Ensure products are properly labeled, staged, and stored in designated warehouse locations.
  • Work closely with purchasing, sales, and warehouse teams to prioritize incoming inventory.
  • Coordinate unloading schedules with carriers and vendors.
  • Assist with warehouse organization and space utilization.
  • Support order fulfillment activities during peak periods as needed.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free receiving area.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and inventory control standards.
