About The Position

The Receiving / Lab Operator is responsible for performing quality tests on all incoming raw materials, managing laboratory analysis, and ensuring accurate documentation. This role involves operating forklifts and shag trucks, maintaining the Warehouse Management System (WMS), and collaborating with various teams to uphold food safety standards, GMPs, and site cleanliness. The position requires attention to detail in cleaning, inventory management, and assisting with production goals while adhering to safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of food safety.
  • Ability to work with all Teams at the site on Sanitation, Pest Control and Housekeeping projects.
  • Ability to work in enclosed spaces.
  • Desire to work as an interactive team in a plant setting.
  • Ability to perform all duties associated with a specific operation area in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to perform sanitation duties as required by the Master Sanitation Schedule, with particular attention to lock out/tag out procedures.
  • Standing on a concrete floor.
  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55lbs.
  • Ability to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicals.
  • Vision correctable to 20/20.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality tests on all incoming raw materials as specified in reception procedure.
  • Sample raw materials from bulk trucks, big bags, and totes.
  • Conduct various laboratory analyses on raw materials according to the control plan.
  • Process receiving document procedures and sign delivery documents, noting any quality/quantity objections.
  • Inform the Q&FS Manager of quality deviations.
  • Accept or decline the reception of goods based on reception procedures.
  • Collaborate with the raw material supply coordinator on inbound receiving scheduling.
  • Offload raw materials from trucks (bulks, big bags, bags) and add chemicals as required.
  • Maintain the WMS accurately.
  • Report any stock discrepancies immediately.
  • Operate forklifts and shag trucks for offloading and storing raw materials.
  • Perform laboratory instrument calibrations, verifications, and record keeping.
  • Conduct first-level maintenance on area-related equipment.
  • Perform inventory of raw ingredients in bins, silos, and racks.
  • Detect and report raw material quality problems.
  • Advise the raw material supply coordinator of late or missing raw material deliveries.
  • Provide customer service to inbound delivery companies.
  • Prepare samples and documentation for external labs.
  • Prepare finished products for quality control (micro sampling).
  • Submit products accurately to offsite/external laboratories.
  • Assist all areas in maintaining high levels of daily cleanliness and adherence to site GMPs.
  • Prioritize daily work by identifying pressing issues and communicating with operators.
  • Promote a high-quality team environment through teamwork and self-management.
  • Perform all assigned activities and job tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Understand production schedules as they relate to shut downs.
  • Perform detailed cleaning of large areas, workspaces, and manufacturing equipment.
