The purpose of the Receiving Inspector position is to properly inspect incoming raw materials at the Deshler or Belleville locations and to either personally or through others arrange for the unloading and delivery of incoming freight and parcels to their correct destination. The position requires very accurate counting and data entry when comparing packing/load lists to purchase orders to insure that proper quantities are accounted for. Works closely with truck drivers, purchasing staff, supervision and others to properly achieve a timely and accurate dispensation of incoming items to their proper locations. Must be capable of working on multiple projects and managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and be capable of working with daily deadlines. Must be able to work well with others and independently. Must be able to accurately identify, count, transfer and place inventories to their designated receiving locations. Must be self-motivated and work with limited supervision – showing/demonstrating initiative, tact, good judgment and sound reasoning. A sense of urgency in reporting discrepancies is very important. Must be able to read, learn and match packing lists to purchase orders. Must have good problem-solving skills and be able to determine work priorities. Must have good writing skills and be able to accurately record and report data. Must be capable of performing basic arithmetic with demonstrated knowledge of the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Must have good communication skills and be capable of interacting professionally with all levels of plant staff and with truck drivers. Must be able to understand, interpret and follow various established procedures and work instructions – both verbal and written. Must have a very good work ethic. Must be team oriented with a positive, supportive outlook, and dedicated to quality and continual improvement of the process(s). Must have basic computer skills and be willing to train in Paperless and MAPICS. Will use radio, phone, e-mail, fax machine and camera. Must have some working knowledge of measurements using various measuring and gauging equipment. Must be familiar and cognizant of safety rules, regulations and guidelines as dictated by company policy. Must be able to handle various physical requirements of the position. Must be able to operate a forklift, and in a safe manner. Must maintain a good attendance and punctuality record. Will perform other related duties as directed by Supervisor.
