About The Position

Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) is seeking a Receiving Inspector to work in their Clarksburg, MD operations on First Shift. First Shift hours are 6 am to 3:30 pm. This position will report directly to the Manager of Quality Assurance. TDSI, headquartered in Clarksburg, MD, is a U.S. company with over 60 years of experience serving domestic and international defense domains. With over 1,000 employees and four subsidiaries, TDSI supports U.S. Joint Services, special operations forces, and multinational partners with a variety of communication, visualization, signal intelligence/electronic warfare, and sensor/sonar capabilities. Their key technologies include tactical handheld radios, expeditionary satellite terminals, helmet-mounted displays, optics and target recognition capability, advanced radars, undersea sensing, and missile systems. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required. - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications – Fluent in English
  • High school diploma
  • 2-4 years experience in receiving inspection or related technical environment
  • IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-600 certifications required (must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical and cable drawings, cable wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and COTS datasheets
  • Ability to lift, move and transfer boxes in support of inspection activities up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance
  • Able to be able to walk, sit, stand, & work with computers, engineering equipment, and manufacturing equipment up to 9 hours a day in an office, cube, lab and/or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work with engineering and manufacturing materials and products such as Isopropanol Alcohol, Adhesives, Solder, Fluxes, Epoxies, RTV, plastics, metals, batteries, wires, components etc.
  • Ability to accurately inspect with micrometers, calipers, pin gauges and common tools used for incoming inspection
  • Work with scopes with 4-10x magnification for up to 9 hours a day
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ CQI certification preferred. Must be familiar with Body of Knowledge
  • Experience generating and running Keyence CMM programs and reports preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inspect to determine acceptability of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) materials to the visual and dimensional attributes of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) data sheets
  • Inspect to determine acceptability of custom materials (PCB, fabricated metal, textiles, plastics, etc) to the visual and dimensional attributes of engineering drawings and process documents
  • Perform continuity testing for opens and shorts testing of cables
  • Perform electrical testing on custom assemblies
  • Identify and report nonconforming material
  • Use skills and knowledge defined in the ASQ CQI Body of Knowledge to perform inspections
  • Proficient in use of inspection attribute and variable gages including pin gauges, radius gauges, screw pitch gauges, and thickness gauges, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, drop gauges, force gauges, and profilometer
