About The Position

Rhoads Industries is seeking a Receiving Inspector to join their dynamic, fast-paced, and growing Quality team. The Receiving Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, components, and products to ensure they meet company quality standards and specifications before being released to production or inventory. This role works closely with the Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to verify that all incoming items meet required documentation, dimensional, and workmanship standards.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or receiving inspection
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (ISO or similar)
  • Experience with ERP or quality tracking systems
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and quality teams
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (Excel, ERP systems, inspection documentation)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspection of incoming raw materials, purchased parts, and assemblies to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and applicable quality standards.
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and physical inspections using calibrated measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools.
  • Verify material identification, revision levels, quantities, and traceability requirements upon receipt.
  • Ensure inspection activities comply with company procedures and applicable customer or regulatory requirements.
  • Review and validate supplier documentation including: Certificates of Conformance (CoC), Material Test Reports (MTRs), Certifications and inspection reports, Special process certifications when required.
  • Confirm documentation accuracy, completeness, and compliance with purchase order and specification requirements.
  • Ensure traceability documentation is properly recorded and maintained.
  • Identify and document non-conforming materials in accordance with established quality procedures.
  • Initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and clearly document inspection findings.
  • Assist Quality and Purchasing departments in determining disposition of rejected materials.
  • Coordinate segregation and control of nonconforming product to prevent unintended use.
  • Ensure proper identification, labeling, and status designation of materials (accepted, rejected, or quarantined).
  • Maintain controlled segregation areas for nonconforming or pending inspection materials.
  • Support inventory accuracy through proper receiving inspection release processes.
  • Communicate supplier quality concerns to Purchasing and Quality teams.
  • Support supplier corrective action activities when inspection issues are identified.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Quality personnel to resolve material discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records in accordance with company Quality Management System requirements (ISO 9001 and/or customer requirements).
  • Ensure inspection data is complete, legible, and properly archived.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to incoming inspection and supplier quality performance.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized inspection area consistent with company safety policies and 5S practices.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support quality and operational objectives.
