About The Position

The Receiving Inspector 2 is responsible for inspecting raw materials and purchased parts to ensure they meet design requirements. This role involves documenting non-conforming parts, maintaining inspection records using Oracle, and performing job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements. The position also requires assisting support functions in root cause analysis, completing labor tracking documentation, and communicating with team members about product deficiencies, new processes, or issues. The inspector will proactively work to improve efficiency and quality, utilize proper PPE and safety procedures, and abide by GE Behaviors. This role may encounter high-risk or hazardous operations, work with chemicals, and include working shifts beyond a standard workweek, requiring the employee to be at least 18 years of age.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 1 year experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools (dremel/cut off tooling) and measuring devices (i.e. - dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required within department.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Braze, Weld and Solder inspection certification as required.
  • Ability and willingness to pass visual acuity exam.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, etc.).
  • Ability and willingness to learn Blueprint interpretation, electrical inspection, mechanical inspection, and procedural knowledge assessments completed.
  • Ability to continuously use hands and fingers in repetition.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, twist, crouch, squat, climb, and/or balance.
  • Ability to continuously sit; ability to occasionally lift to 60 lbs.; ability to push/pull up to 22 lbs.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
  • Must be able to prove status as a U.S. Person (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee or refugee status).

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic knowledge of Quality System requirements (AS9100)
  • Basic understanding of special process operations (e.g., brazing / soldering / welding / coating, etc.) as required within department.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical components and test methods
  • Basic knowledge in Receiving, Electrical, or Mechanical Inspection
  • Preferred assembly, solder, or electronics manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment
  • Familiarity with 5S & lean manufacturing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and document non-conforming parts, while using Oracle to maintain inspection records.
  • Inspect all raw materials and purchased parts to determine conformance to design requirement.
  • Use statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required.
  • Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements.
  • Assist support functions in root cause analysis.
  • Compliantly complete all written and/or electronic labor tracking documentation.
  • Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up.
  • Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of product deficiencies, new processes, or issues.
  • Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products.
  • Participate in and support team initiatives.
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
  • Understand and abide by the GE Behaviors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
