About The Position

The Receiving Inspection Engineer is responsible for ensuring incoming materials, components, and assemblies meet engineering, contractual, and quality requirements prior to release to production. This position provides engineering-level oversight of receiving inspection activities, supports Material Review Board (MRB) processes, develops quality control plans (QCPs), and ensures inspection methods align with engineering and program requirements. The role serves as the technical authority supporting Receiving Inspection personnel and supplier quality performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in receiving inspection, manufacturing quality engineering, or supplier quality within a production environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Working knowledge of MRB processes, nonconforming material control, and corrective action methodologies.
  • Experience developing inspection plans, quality control plans, or similar quality documentation.
  • Proficiency with standard inspection tools and measurement equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to manufacturing quality issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems and audit requirements.
  • Experience with electronic quality management systems such as TipQA, or similar NCR/MRB tracking systems.
  • Experience supporting supplier quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of risk-based inspection approaches and quality planning methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering oversight and technical guidance for receiving inspection activities to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and technical data packages to establish inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and inspection criteria for incoming materials, parts, and assemblies.
  • Support and participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities including evaluation of nonconforming material, root cause analysis, and disposition development (use-as-is, repair, rework, scrap).
  • Ensure proper documentation and control of nonconforming material in accordance with company quality procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical support to Receiving Inspection personnel on inspection methods, measurement techniques, and interpretation of engineering documentation.
  • Investigate recurring supplier defects and support corrective action activities.
  • Develop and refine inspection processes to ensure adequate verification of incoming materials while maintaining production efficiency.
  • Review supplier documentation, certifications, and traceability records to ensure compliance with quality and contractual requirements.
  • Identify risks associated with incoming materials and escalate systemic issues affecting production or product quality.
  • Support program quality teams by analyzing incoming inspection data and identifying trends related to supplier performance or recurring defects.
  • Ensure receiving inspection processes comply with the company Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable industry standards (e.g., AS9100).
