About The Position

The Receiving Department Lead oversees receiving team members to keep the supply chain moving at M&D Supply. This job includes shipping and receiving activities that ensure M&D is “in stock”. The focus of the work is getting the right merchandise to the right place at the right time when customers need it. The receiving department lead and their team members play a vital role, as they support the retail and commercial sales operations of all M&D locations.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Physical activity includes: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, keyboarding, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to move/load merchandise weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds from the ground to waist level.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation machines; using measurement devices.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • The worker is required to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
  • Must be able to operate various equipment including must not limited to: Forklift , RF gun, Computer work station, Eagle Browser, pallet jack, forklift., box cutter, scanner, copier, Smartsheet.
  • Must be able to climb up and down a ladder using 3 points of contact.

Responsibilities

  • Examine shipment contents and compare records, such as manifests, invoices, orders or packing slips to verify accuracy of receiving.
  • Keep the warehouse organized to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Receive and sort merchandise for accurate physical check-in following prevailing receiving procedures.
  • Receive merchandise into the computer system using prevailing receiving procedures with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure a 3 day turnaround on all orders being received.
  • Ensure complete and accurate check-in of outside lumber and building materials by working with the lumber department associates on check-in process. Including taking pictures of products and attaching them to smartsheet.
  • Work with a sense of urgency.
  • Consistently meet deadlines.
  • Able to work in a face-paced high volume environment.
  • Create license plates for product/pallet purchases as needed for tracking purposes.
  • Ensure proper handling of product during inclement weather.
  • Willing/able to work extra as needed. (During Weather events/business spike increases)
  • Communicate the transporting of merchandise to the sales floor through radio communication to the associates and managers.
  • Prepare outgoing merchandise for shipment via UPS, Fedex or common carrier as needed.
  • Call vendors for credits on shortages or damages, file for RGAs when needed.
  • Create credit P.O.s when necessary.
  • Contact vendors for any missing packing slips during receiving process.
  • Set up back-order lines and Backorder Purchase orders in both Smartsheet and Eagle when needed.
  • Communicate with the receiving clerk on any receiving issues with sense of urgency.
  • Coordinate shipping of transfers with delivery coordinator/commercial sales department.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and all warehouses’ daily.
  • Safely operate a forklift to load and offload freight into and out of the warehouse.
  • Handle all defectives, field destroy items and recalls following prevailing company procedures daily.
  • Ensure the receiving warehouse is a safe environment, ensure employee’s are not lingering in the receiving warehouse.
  • Attend monthly warehouse meetings.
  • Meet monthly with direct supervisor to conduct warehouse walks for quality control.
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary by management.
  • Schedule is subject to change when necessary to meet business needs.
